Check out this exciting and entertaining jazz musician as part of the recurring Berks concert series in the amphitheater of the Gring’s Mill Recreation Area from 6 to 8 p.m. Joe Baione will perform originals and covers of classic songs in his unique style of jazz on the vibraphone. Admission is free, but there will be $5 donation requested for parking. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfort and refreshments will be served. |
Summer Starter 5K Leesport Hump Day Race |

Participants of all ages are invited to the Big Vision Sports Complex in Leesport for this 5K race. The course will be designed to mimic a cross country race featuring different surfaces such as gravel, pavement, and grass. The complex itself is modeled after Fenway Park and is a beautiful, scenic location for a race. The 5K begins at 6 p.m. and is $10 in advance, $15 the day of. There will also be a 1 mile fun run/walk beginning at 6:15 p.m. for $5 in advance and $10 the day of. Additional donations are appreciated and all proceeds benefit the Big Vision Foundation. |
Paddle and Pedal Along the Tulpehocken |

Experienced boaters are welcome to join Berks Parks staff for kayaking down the Tulpehocken creek and biking along the trail from 4 to 7 p.m. The fun will begin at the Blue Marsh Lake Stilling Basin, stop at Red Bridge for a snack, then continue on bike through the Union Canal Towpath Trail. Kayaks and bikes are available for rental or you can bring your own. Cost is $40 and participants should register by June 8th by calling 610-374-2944. |

Come on out to the Dry Brooks Day Use Area of Blue Marsh Lake for this free, family-friendly fun and educational event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include mountain biking, paddle sports, a scavenger hunt, water rescue demos, control tower tours, K9 demonstrations, Smokey Bear and Bobber the Water Safety Dog meet and greets, and much more. |

This event is a self-guided walking tour that will take you through beautiful Centre Park Historic District to view creative gardens in an urban environment from 5 to 9 p.m. Each garden will feature a signature, local food tasting paired with beer or wine. Live music will be continuous throughout the event. Tickets are available for a $25 purchased at the park the day of the event or for a discounted rate on the Centre Park website in advance. There is also a beer garden event in the park the same night requiring a separate ticket. |

Family movie night benefitting the Big Vision Foundation will be held at the Berks County Youth Recreation Facility baseball field from 8 to 10 p.m. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a showing of Disney’s “Meet the Robinsons” on a sixteen foot screen. A donation is requested for admission and movie concessions will be available for purchase. |
Beginner Paddleboarding |

Interested in learning how to participate in one of the fastest growing water sports? Trained professionals will teach the basics of paddle boarding, including how to maintain balance and properly use the paddles at Blue Marsh Lake from 5 to 8 p.m. No experience is required to participate in this fun workshop appropriate for the whole family. Sessions will be scheduled every 45 minutes beginning at 5 p.m. Participation is free, but advance registration is required by June 22. |
