Summer is here, and if you are a person who doesn’t like hot weather, you may be looking for a cool place to hang out and beat the heat. DAK Storage has composed this list of ten local places in Berks County where you can hide out in the air conditioning or cool yourself off with a splash in the pool.

Crystal Cave

Staying hidden by layers of rock is one way to hide from the heat of the sun. Crystal Cave in Kutztown is one of Pennsylvania’s most beautiful and popular natural attractions. At Crystal Cave, you can take a tour to learn about rock formations and how different crystals are formed. Plus, you can buy some sparkling treasures to decorate your home.



Ozzy’s Family Fun Center

Ozzy’s is a family fun center on Pottsville Pike in Leesport that is a great place to visit for a family or group outing. They have plenty of indoor activities including laser tag, roller skating, rock climbing, a ropes course, sports courts and more. Ozzy’s has plenty of attractions that promote teamwork and togetherness and can help bring your team members or family closer together.


Reading Public Museum

Located on Museum Road in Reading, the Reading Public Museum is one of the best places in Berks County to learn something new about history, science, or technology all while staying cool. With a variety of exhibits, a planetarium, and an arboretum, you can spend an entire day at the museum and stay out of the sun.


Goggle Works

RC Reading Movies 11 & IMAX

Going to a movie theater is a classic way to relax inside on a hot day and if you want to see a movie, why not go to an IMAX theater where your favorite characters are projected larger than life? IMAX is a widescreen cinematography technique that broadcasts movies ten times larger and helps immerse you in the story. RC Reading Movies 11 & IMAX is located in Reading across from Goggle Works and is one of the coolest places in Berks County to watch a movie.


The Works

On Bern Road in Wyomissing, you can find The Works. At The Works, all ages can play some arcade games, play in the trampoline center or just grab a bite to eat. They have climbing-tunnels for young children, and go-karts for teens and adults, making it a great choice for a family-friendly outing. On occasion, they also host live entertainment featuring various music acts and bands.



Santander Arena and Performing Arts Center

If you like the idea of going to see a band, Reading’s Santander Arena or Performing Arts Center is another great option for you to consider. They book all kinds of entertainment acts year round, including bands, comedians, magicians and sporting events. There are all sorts of interesting acts to discover at Santander Arena and Performing Arts Center.


Reading Comedy Outlet and Heister Lanes

The Reading Comedy Outlet is the place to go for a laugh and some bowling. Located at Heister Lanes in Reading, the Reading Comedy Outlets hosts both open mic nights and professional comedians. You can also rent out the pool and/or pavilion and have a picnic with delicious food. Either way, a dip in the Leesport Pool will help you cool off and have some good times.
